About the Mick George Sport Fund

The Mick George Sports Fund is run in association with Living Sport, Northamptonshire Sport and Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport - organisations that specialise in improving the health and well-being of people, through participation in sport and physical activity.

Living Sport, Northamptonshire Sport and Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport are local organisations dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people in Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, through participation in sport and physical activity.

They are passionate about ensuring that everyone has access to opportunities to participate whatever their circumstances.

Mick George Ltd, an employer of more than 1,100 local people, supplying an abundance of products and services to the same geographical regions and beyond. The business has an affiliation with many local sports clubs, from a wide variety of sports genres; including Professional Clubs' - Peterborough United FC & Cambridge United FC.

In 2018, the Sports fund donated more than £50,000 to forty-two separate leisure led schemes, across a wide variety of disciplines; including football, rowing, cricket, bowls, canoeing, netball, archery, athletics, to name just a few.

There will be £100,000 available annually, which will be open to applications during four quartely application rounds.

There are no limits to the number of applications, but an application can only be submitted once unless otherwise advised

The available funds will be awarded each round at the discretion of a panel of representatives from the three organisations and Mick George Ltd.

Round Dates as follows:

* Jan 1st - Mar 31st, 2019 (Decision Date 24/04/19)

* Apr 1st - June 25th, 2019 (Decision Date  09/07/19)

* June 26th - 17th Sept, 2019 (Decision Date 01/10/19)

 * Sept 18th - Nov 19th, 2019 (Decision Date 03/12/19) 

- Successful submissions will be notified accordingly

Individual grants will be available between £500 and £1,500, for capital community sports projects or developments, open to the general public. These could include, but are not limited too; changing room improvements, clubhouse renovations and training or facility maintenance equipment.

Exclusions - Member Exclusive Clubs / Commercial Organisations / Staff, Training or Travel Costs / Kits 

Geographic regions:

- All CB postcodes

- ALL NN postcodes

- Majority of LE postcodes (some areas in Northwest Leicestershire are excluded - contact Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport for more information)

- Majority of PE postcodes (some North or Eastern PE postcodes are excluded - contact Living Sport for more information)

The Mick George Sports Fund provides grants for capital community sports projects, that will provide improvement works to amenities.

If you think your development qualifies for a grant, then please submit an application to the regionalised organisations below, and your project will be given due consideration alongside all other application submitted.
