3G Artificial Turf Pitch
An impressive new third generation artificial pitch (ATP) has been installed at St. Neots Town Football Club replacing the existing amenity which was more than 10 years old.
Following an audit from FA inspectors which indicated the need to replace the existing 3G ATP in order to permit FA affiliated matches, Huntingdonshire District Council has acted quickly in its pursuit to upgrade the facilities.
The £208,000 investment owes largely to a third-party contribution from local business Mick George Ltd who stumped up £50,000 to fulfil the financial shortfall.
Having an affiliated surface will allow St. Neots Town FC to continue in developing and expanding the community programme already in place, with an anticipated 80,000 footfall expected per annum.
In addition to the comprehensive football development pathway that the facility provides, older adult groups utilise the ATP for ‘walking football’ sessions, while schools host various events, festivals, sports days and fundraising days at the location.
Martin Grey, Sports Development Manager at Huntingdonshire District Council said: ‘’The funding was essential to deliver the project to provide a high quality artificial football pitch for St. Neots Town FC and the community.’’
Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’Based on the high-volume of users benefitting from the previous ATP, it is clear to see how valuable the new facility will be to the community. We are already involved with St. Neots Town FC in various partnership capacities, including the scholarship and education offering, and have witnessed the incredible work that they undertake, so we’re glad to be involved in this project.‘’
