2017 Sponsorship Round Two

It may not be as sunny or warm as we would expect heading in to the month of May, but plans are firmly underway for a host of events, projects and developments that are traditionally associated with the Spring and Summer seasons.

While the reality is that it’s a little chilly outside at present, we all know that the inclement conditions are unlikely to prevent the hard-nosed festival goers from enjoying some of their favorite gatherings and pastimes. However, with many of the activities volunteer lead, such initiatives are heavily reliant on financial and service support to ensure they take place.

Local construction business Mick George Ltd, who are continually engaging in community support programmes, have stumped up in excess of £2,000 of resources to help aid eight different ventures throughout the regions in which the company operates.

- Icknield Primary School, Sawston : Nature Hotel project
- St Neots Rowing Club Regatta
- Sawtry Carnival
- Needingworth Music Festival
- Greyt Greyhound Picnic fun day, Spalding
- Ellington Gala
- Deeping Raft Race, Market Deeping
- Huntingdon Carnival

There are four local sponsorship rounds each year for applicants to submit entries for consideration. The next funding stage will be ending at the end of June 2017.

They said:

Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd ‘’The sheer volume of applicants for sponsorship assistance from our business highlights just how difficult it is for these often charity or volunteer led initiatives to generate the finances required to host such events.’’

Stump continued: ‘’The enjoyment that the attendees get from these events shows the true value of each to the respective local communities. Large volumes of spectators, participants and passers-by will benefit from the selected initiatives, which makes it all the more worthwhile to us. We hope that our support enhances the experience.’’
