Peterborough’s ‘Green Festival’ Transforms A Mick George!

As part of this years’ ‘Green Festival’ www.pect.org.uk/green-festival Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) staged a "Construction Garden" event in Peterborough city centre using a skip and materials provided by the leading skip hire company in East Anglia, Mick George Skips (www.mickgeorgeskips.co.uk).

This specially commissioned garden was in the style of those seen at the Chelsea Flower Show and featured a 6-yard skip and an interesting variety of construction/DIY themed items that were artistically planted to create an aesthetically pleasing garden. Visitors were invited to help plant this amazing spectacle that saw art and nature mix.

The ‘Green Festival’ in Peterborough was organised by PECT and its aim was to promote awareness of Peterborough’s status as one of four of the UK’s ‘Environment Cities’ and demonstrate the commitment to creating the UK’s ‘Environment Capital’. The theme of the festival this year was food and had the title ‘Grow It, Cook It, Eat It’. The event featured a whole host of planned activities, give-aways, games, and competitions.

When PECT were considering whom to approach as a supplier for the necessary equipment, they immediately thought of Mick George Limited. 'Mick George Limited has an excellent reputation for its commitment to the environment and the company demonstrates this by recycling over 75% of the waste it collects,' said Janine Starling who is organising the Green Festival. 'If Peterborough is to achieve its aim of becoming the UK’s ‘Environment Capital’, we need to support companies like Mick George Limited to reduce, reuse  and recycle their waste and the Construction Garden project is a great example of this.'

Explaining why Mick George Limited agreed to supply the skip and construction items for the event the company’s Financial Director, Jon Stump, said; 'We were delighted to support this worthwhile event as it ties in nicely with our recently launched ‘Natures Dustbin’ advertising campaign, which has been designed to highlight the recycling and the environmental processes Mick George Limited uses to divert waste from landfill. As a company we advocate responsibility towards the environment and are keen to promote this wherever possible.'

Jon Stump concluded; 'The Green Festival represents all the values that Mick George Limited firmly believes in – environmental responsibility, sustainability and growth.'
